Yousef Ismail decries plight of refugees in Agadez
Yousef Ismail, a frontline member of Refugees In Niger has decried the predicament of refugees in Agadez, the gateway to the Sahara.
Yousef raised the concerns in a series of tweets on his verifified handle @yousef_ism58349.
The tweets reads: “What is happening at the Agadez Humanitarian Center for Refugees is a violation of human rights, and refugees in particular, 429 people who are peacefully protesting to demand their rights and protection are being brutally ignored by the authorities.
“427 consecutive days for refugees in Agadez: They are in the forgotten humanitarian center
@EU_Commission. He established this inhumane center in 2017 and left the refugees to face their fate in the desert—an unknown fate. Where is the humane world?
He made similar appeal as the protest continued. “428 Appeals and our voices to the humanitarian world, calling for the rescue of refugees in Agadez, Niger, who have lost their hopes, face their unknown fate. @Refugees @hrw. These are #human beings. They don’t want to stay here @UNHCRNiger @FAttidzah @Left_EU @ElizabethTecle.”
