DCIM apprehends many immigrants in different operations, intensifies crackdown on undocumented persons
The Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM), Libya, has apprehended many immigrants in different operations.
According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the DCIM during security checks in Derna apprehended 21 #migrants of different nationalities for violating residency regulations and or entering the country illegally. All the apprehended people were transferred to DCIM Branch HQ for legal action.
The DCIM (Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar Branch) deployed mobile security patrols in Shahat intended at reducing the phenomenon of illegal immigration in the region. The measures are part of agency’s policy aimed at enhancing security.
“DCIM continues to conduct mobile security checks in Ajdabiya aimed at controlling illegal immigration. During recent patrols a number of undocumented #migrants of different nationalities were apprehended and transferred to DCIM Branch HQ for legal action,” Migrant Rescue Watch said, adding that the “DCIM Investigation and Arrest Dept. conducted raid on human smugglers’ “safe house” in Shabna area (Benghazi) and apprehended 19 #migrants of Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationalities awaiting transport for boat crossing.
“During op a Bangladeshi national responsible for coordination and transportation of #migrants was also apprehended. All remain in custody pending investigation into the human smuggling network and involved entities.
“DCIM Investigation and Arrest Dept. following security screening of apprehended #migrants obtain information that 2 of the Bangladeshi nationals were wanted by Al-Wahat Security Directorate in connection with a kidnapping case.”
