Migrant suffers heart attack, dies crossing English Channel
An unidentified migrant has lost his life trying to cross the English Channel.
The incident, according to Seebrüecke International occured on Sunday.
Explaining how the incident occured, Seebrüecke International said: “The inflatable boat lost air immediately after casting off and most of the people on board escaped back to land.
“The deceased suffered a heart attack and could not be resuscitated. On Wednesday, 3 people had already lost their lives on the English Channel. This year alone, 56 people have already died trying to cross the English Channel.
“Cold water temperatures and strong currents and winds, as well as the many ships travelling a very narrow route, make the Channel crossing unpredictable and dangerous.”
Seebrüecke International said the fact that people repeatedly embark on dangerous flight routes is a consequence of the European policy of sealing off borders. “This border policy kills,” it said.
“Whether in the Mediterranean or on the English Channel – Europe must finally create legal and safe passage and guarantee freedom of movement for all people!”
