Two women, two children drown off coast of Kos
A report by Aegean Boat Report says two women, and two children drowned off coast of Kos after their boat capsized off the coast of Kos.
The report reads in full:
A few days ago, Tuesday October 15, a boat carrying 31 people capsized ofF the coast of Kos, two women and two children, age three and five, drowned.
The Greek coast guard was quick to point the finger toward the driver of the boat, as they routinely do, claiming that the boat carrying refugees was driving dangerously causing the boat to capsize.
«it made abrupt and dangerous maneuvers at high speed, as a result of which it lost control and found a sufficient number of its occupants at sea and immobilized the vessel»
Family members of the victims was quickly out on social media claiming that the Greek coast guards had tried to intercept the boat, force it back toward Turkey, the pushback went wrong and four people, two of them small children, was killed in the process.
New information has come to light that severely questions the published statements by the Greek coast guard, and that the Greek coast Guard, again, has tried to cover up the truth by lying about what really happened.
According to an exclusive report by tvxs, citing authoritative sources, the Greek coast guard, not only was the one maneuvering very dangerously, but they also fired towards the boat several times, and most likely the reason why the boat capsized.
This isn’t the first time the Greek coast guard has published fictional reports placing all blame on the refugees or the smugler, especially when lives have been lost by their actions, it has become routine, these cases are also new properly investigated by independent parties.
In the last months, there have been at least five shootings by the Greek coast guard against boats carrying refugees, sending several people to hospital, as far as we know, killing five people.
Besides the new incident on Kos on October 15, cost guard have opened fire towards boats in at least four incidents lately.
On May 30, the Greek Coastguard fired against a boat carrying 25 refugees outside Chios, claiming the boat was manoeuvring dangerously. One person ended up in hospital with gunshot injuries. No official information was provided by the coast guard
On July 5, the Greek Coastguard opened fire on a boat carrying 24 people outside Chios, claiming that the boat refused to stop, and was manoeuvring dangerously. In this case, the smuggler onboard returned fire, before heading back towards Turkey.
On July 20, the Greek Coastguard opened fire on a boat carrying 15 people outside Chios, claiming that the boat refused to stop, and was manoeuvring dangerously. One person was transported to hospital with a bullet wound. The Greek Coastguard issued a press release in which it left out the shooting altogether
On August 23, the Greek Coastguard opened fire against a boat carrying refugees outside Simi, claiming the boat refused to stop, and was manoeuvring dangerously. The Coastguard’s shooting killed one man, who was shot in the head by the armed officers.
In every single incident the Greek authorities denies any responsibility, always, and without exception, pointing the fingers towards others. There are no independent investigations, nobody is held accountable.
Question is, how many more lives needs to be unnecessary lost by the actions of the Greek authorities in the Aegean Sea, before independent investigations are launched by the European Commission?
Killing innocent people, men women and children at the border in the name of European border management must end!
