Twenty three Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, others arrested by Libyan authorities
A total of 23 Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Egyptians and other undocumented migrants have been arrested by the Libyan authorities.
An update shared by Migrant Rescue Watch on the arrests said: “Stability Support Agency arrested 11 undocumented #migrants of Pakistani nationality, two of whom were human smugglers organizing boat crossings to EU for 10,000 USD per person. All referred to Illegal Immigration Prosecution for legal action.”
The updated also said that “Patrols of GA Central Support apprehended 10 undocumented #migrants of mainly Bangladeshi nationality in Umm Al-Qandil area west of Bin Jawad. The group was readying for boat crossing. All transferred to police custody for legal action. #migrantcrisis #Frontex”
In a related development, Migrant Rescue Watch said “Al-Kuwaifiya Police Dept. arrested in Benghazi 2 Egyptian #migrants responsible for robbery with weapon. The accused threaten with knife another Egyptian national and stole his mobile phone and personal belongings.
“Police was able to recover all stolen items and referred the individuals to public prosecution for legal action.”
