Libyan coastguard have allegedly set fire on an empty boat and ordered seaeyeorg crew to exit the place.

Sea Watch International disclosed this as it expressed concerns over Italian politicians’ visit to Libya on Wednesday July 17, 2024.

It said: “Yesterday, we observed how militias of the so-called Libyan coastguard tried to intimidate the crew of @seaeyeorg.

“They set fire to a nearby empty boat & circled Sea-Eye 4, telling them to leave. This is what the EU-supported so-called border control looks like.”

In separate statement, Sea Watch International said Italian government politicians Meloni and Piantedosi “are in Libya today to work with the Western Libyan pm Dabaiba on their dystopian migration policy. Whatever they talk about, it’s likely aimed at increasing the number of kills in the Mediterranean. We wish them all the worst.”
