Seebrüecke International has condemned living conditions in Neu Tramm refugee camp.

It said: “Refugees in #NeuTramm have submitted a petition to the district and the organisation running their refugee camp, Arbeiter Samariter Bund. In this petition, they put forward 10 specific demands for humane accommodation to those responsible.

“Since the beginning of 2024, refugees have had to live in inadequate conditions in the newly opened refugee camp in Neu Tramm.

“A lack of internet connection, insufficient and inadequate provision of canteen food, only 2 washing machines for around 150 people and other grievances have now been publicised by the people accommodated.”

It added that: “They are also calling for improvements in health care, for example. In total, around 90 of the residents have signed the petition.

“We would like to take this opportunity to emphasise this once again: The accommodation of refugees in camps and group accommodation is and remains an inhumane practice of exclusion and isolation!”

Seebrüecke International further said that the: “Only through access to their own, decentralised living space can people live freely and independently while respecting their right to privacy and intimacy.

“Camps and accommodation are also often the target of right-wing attacks & smear campaigns disguised as citizens’ petitions.

“That is why we demand in the spirit of the No Camp movement: No camp, nowhere!”
