Outrage as UK detains first people to be removed to Rwanda

Condemnation is trailing announcement by the United Kingdom that it has detained the first set of people to be removed to Rwanda.

The UK Home Office earlier today, May 1, 2024 shared the post on its X handle. Attached to the post is a short video of the people being detained.

The post reads: “The first people set to be removed to Rwanda have been detained.”
The 11 seconds video can be viewed using the link below.

Meanwhile, netizens have widely criticized the Rishi Sunak led government taking such action.

The UK Home Office was also knocked for posting such video on social media.
As at the time of filing this report, one million people had viewed the video described by many as disgusting.

Among those who condemned the video is Omar Parreira. He said:
“This absolutely disgusting you still have time to take this down, your social media team is vile, the fact that you have hired an editor and videographer for this is actually disturbing, actually ashamed of calling myself British sometimes.”

Believe are comments off others who condemned the post.

Lioncub: Completely inappropriate to broadcast these videos. These asylum seekers are being taken into custody purely for political purposes. At this point in the asylum process there is no evidence these people are “illegal” migrants. They deserve privacy and dignity. Shame on you.
