The new shipwreck ended in tragedy, after a while ago, according to information from ERT, 3 little girls, aged between 5 and 10 years, were found dead.
The operation to rescue and release refugees-immigrants is in full progress with the participation of the forces of the port corps and the Greek coast guard.
So far, according to the YEN operations room, 16 people were rescued this morning, among them, 4 women and 8 children, one of which is a 30-day-old baby. At least 3 people had to be taken to Chios hospital for first aid. All the rescued declare Afghan nationality. As they said, they had arrived on foot near the town of Chios, while they reported that they have been there since at least the previous day.
Tragedy with 3 little girls
Agony earlier prevailed over the fate of three girls aged 10, 7 and 5, as their mother, who is among those rescued, told authorities they were dead. A little before 12 noon a boat of LS-EL.AKT. approached the spot so that he could find the children. The information of ERT states that, unfortunately, they are dead and that they are likely to be transported by sea to the port of Chios.
In order to unhook the rescued people from the rocks, the coastguard personnel dropped into the sea to help them onto the boat.
The search for survivors continues after reports say 27 people were on board the boat. The area is inaccessible and the business is only carried out from the sea area.
Touching are the scenes that took place in the port of Kardamyla where the residents brought food, water and clothes.
Officials from the port police and from the stations of Kardamylon and Oinousso, the police, the fire brigade, medical staff from the polyclinic of Kardamylon and the EKAV assisted in the operation.
The vessel has not been located in the wider area, leading authorities to consider the possibility that the trafficker may have left them and fled.
It should be noted that there is information about the location of another group of 23 refugee-immigrants in Pyrgia Kardamylon.
