Man jailed for smuggling migrants into UK
A man alleged of smuggling 12 people including an eight year-old into the UK has been jailed.
The UK Home Office disclosed this on its X handle.
It said: “A man has been jailed for trying to smuggle 12 migrants into the UK on an overcrowded yacht with a faulty engine.
“The vessel was tracked & intercepted by Border Force as it entered UK waters. The migrants, including an 8 year old, were crammed below deck with no life jackets.”
Before now, specifically four days ago, the Home Office had announced the removal of 61 people from the UK.
“Today we returned a further 61 people with no right to be in the UK.
“This included people convicted of serious crimes, including child grooming and firearms offences.”
