Refugees In Libya has shared information about fundraising plan for Salim a Gambian who migrated to Tripoli with the aim of reaching Europe.

Refugees In Libya said the fundraising is organised by
Mediterranea Berlin.

The message reads:
None of us will ever have the power to decide whether, when, and where to be born.

Mediterranea Berlin met Salim 4 years ago, he had just arrived in Tripoli after a journey of almost 6000 km from The Gambia, in the midst of the global Covid pandemic. He had left his pregnant wife
with the hope to reach Europe and start a new life that would allow him to provide for his family.

Once in Libya, the picture of his newborn daughter made him change his mind: instead of attempting the challenging Mediterranean crossing he decided to return home.

We supported Salim in his decision and endeavour by putting him in contact with the IOM, which after one year of waiting, finally informed him they had a seat on a direct flight from Tripoli to West Africa.

Once he returned home to his family, we helped him purchase a taxi cab, while saving up for his dream to start a poultry farm.

This is your chance to give him a hand in pursuing his dream and achieving financial independence for him and his family. The raised funds will be utilized by Salim to purchase a plot of land and the necessary tools for his poultry farm.

Mediterranea Berlin stands for freedom of movement in all its forms, whether one decides to stay, leave, or return.
