Sea was terrifying but we hadn’t alternative- Syrians

A Syrian couple rescued by OceanViking together with their two children have told why they fled their country.

They were rescued together with 57 others with the support of @PVolontaires.

According to SOS Mediterranee Nour and Khaled from Syria, fled Libya with their two children of 9 and 11 years old on an overcrowded wooden boat last Friday. They were rescued by the teams of #OceanViking with 57 other men and women, with the support of @PVolontaires.

“Our city, Aleppo, has been completely destroyed. For years our kids couldn’t go to school. We want them to study. At sea, it was terrifying. We knew it was going to be dangerous but we didn’t have any other choice. When the airplane [#Colibri2] flew above us, it gave us hope”
