Amy Pope commends Djiboutiens’ hospitality towards migrants

The Director General of the International Organization for Migration, IOM, Amy Pope, has commended Djiboutiens for their gracious hospitality towards migrants.

The IOM Chief made the remark after her meeting with the President of Djibouti Ismail Oguelleh.

She said: “Over 200,000 migrants cross through Djibouti every year, the equivalent of a quarter of the country’s population.

“During my meeting with @IsmailOguelleh, President of Djibouti, I expressed my appreciation for the government’s determination to assist migrants.”

Commending the people, she said: “I commend Djiboutiens for their gracious hospitality towards people on the move.

“IOM reaffirms its commitment in providing life-saving assistance to vulnerable migrants and host communities.
