Storm Daniel: Questions trail international organizations’ actions in Libya
Libyan activist and humanitarian researcher, Amera Markous, has raised questions about why international non governmental organizations that had not been to Libya before now are collecting huge donations on behalf of the people.
Other people in Libya are also raising concerns about remarks of UN officials following the incident.
Amera said: “While we appreciate fundraising efforts by international NGOs but I don’t get how an INGO that never been to #Libya nor had access on the ground is collecting huge amounts of money for affected ppl #StormDaniel! Access is & will remain a mess. Don’t donate without knowing this.”
Elham Saudi, a human rights lawyer and Director of Libyan Justice also asked:
“Why do the posts from UN leadership in #Libya sound like diary entries? Dear @Bathily_UNSMIL and @ggagnonn, can you please do share fewer banal observations and instead share plans and strategies? Thank you very much.”
