Amy Pope saddened by Libya, Morocco incidents
IOM Director General-Elect, Amy Pope, has expressed sadness over the devastating flood and earthquake incidents that claimed many lives in Eastern Libya and Morocco in the last few days.
Over 5,000 people are reported to have died in the Libya incident with numerous others still missing.
Close to 3,000 people were also said to have died in the Morocco earthquake.
“I offer my solidarity and support to those who have been affected by the devastating floods after a powerful storm in #Libya,”Amy Pope said.
She had earlier expressed sadness over the Morocco earthquake when she said: “Deeply saddened by the loss of many lives caused by the devastating earthquake that hit #Morocco today.
“My heart goes out to the people who have been affected.We stand in full solidarity with Morocco during this difficult time.
