Qanfouda concentration camp one of the most dangerous detention sites in Libya
Qanfouda concentration camp has been described as one of the most dangerous detention sites in Libya.
Refugees In Libya made the disclosure in a post on its X handle (formerly twitter)
The group, writing under the heading ‘LIBYA | QANFOUDA DETENTION CAMP’ said: “Qanfouda concentration camp in Libya is one of the most dangerous detention sites in the country—devoid of humanity, stripped of dignity, and hostile to life itself. This place is not an accident. It is a product of European border policies, sustained through the complicity of Europe and Italy. This is the outcome they tolerate. This is what they have chosen.
Making reference to a video it shared in the post, Refugees In Libya said “the video was sent to us by a man from Sudan. He says his brother is among the young men held inside the Qanfouda camp and has been detained there for more than three months. According to what a prison guard told him, his brother was transferred there after someone intervened—someone who “wanted money.”
“We requested further details, but communication has been unstable. Today, all attempts to reach him failed. His phone is no longer reachable. What remains with us is the evidence and the world must bear witness. People are disappearing. Lives are being traded. Responsibility does not stop at Libya’s borders. Tomorrow we will hear of a mass grave being discovered and it will be the human beings in this video.”
