Kazakh artist and humanitarian Dimash Qudaibergen, has been appointed  as a Global Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration (IOM).

He was appointed during IOM’s annual Council session in Geneva. The appointment reflects his longstanding commitment to promoting inclusion and respect for people affected by crisis.

During the Council, Dimash performed one of his signature songs for an audience of Member State delegations and IOM staff. Recognizing his humanitarian engagement, IOM expressed gratitude to Dimash for his advocacy and for supporting the Organization’s mission during his global “Stranger” tour, where he consistently amplified messages of solidarity with displaced and vulnerable communities.

“Dimash has used his voice not only to move audiences but to help ensure that people affected by crisis are seen and heard and their cultural diversity celebrated,” said Amy Pope, IOM Director General. “His music reaches across borders, and his advocacy brings attention to the realities of people who are often overlooked. By sharing their stories with compassion and purpose, he embodies the spirit of resilience and inclusion that guides IOM’s work. We are proud to welcome him as an IOM Global Goodwill Ambassador and look forward to all he will contribute to this role.”

Appointed as IOM Regional Goodwill Ambassador in 2023, Dimash has been an active advocate for people uprooted by conflict and disaster. Through his global platform, he has supported IOM’s work by raising awareness on issues affecting migrants, promoting inclusion, and contributing to fundraising and emergency appeals. In 2023, he met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres during the Secretary-General’s visit to Kazakhstan to discuss Dimash’s role and vision for promoting humanitarian action through art.

“It is an honour to continue my work with IOM now in this new role as a Global Goodwill Ambassador,” Dimash said. “Music has brought me to many places and to many people, and it has shown me how closely our lives are connected. I hope to use my voice to draw attention to those facing uncertainty and loss, and to remind others that every person, no matter where they come from, deserves dignity, safety, and compassion.”

In 2025, Dimash expanded his collaboration with IOM through a range of meaningful activities. He took part in IOM’s Ramadan campaign, sharing messages of compassion with millions of followers worldwide, and continued to highlight the dangers of human trafficking and the need to protect people at risk. He also met with DG Pope to reaffirm his commitment to supporting people affected by humanitarian crises.

During his “Stranger” world tour, which reached audiences in New York, Mexico City, Barcelona, London, Berlin, and Riga, Dimash promoted messages of inclusion and resilience while encouraging concertgoers to support IOM’s humanitarian work. Through these performances, he reached more than 100,000 people globally, helping broaden IOM’s visibility and public engagement. Above all, his efforts helped draw attention to the people who need it most, reminding audiences that behind every crisis are individuals striving to rebuild their lives.
