Alarm Phone said it has assisted over 10.000 boats in distress, trying to accompany them on their journeys to Europe since it was established in 2014.

Alarm Phone is an organization that provides independent support for people crossing the Mediterranean Sea to the EU.

“Today the Alarm Phone turns 11 years old. Since we started in Oct. 2014, we assisted over 10.000 boats in distress, trying to accompany them on their journeys to Europe. Also in the years to come, we’ll keep struggling with people on the move & for the freedom of movement of all,” the organization said.

“We launched our project on the 11th of October 2014, the first anniversary of a devastating shipwreck in the central Mediterranean, where hundreds of lives were lost due to cruel inaction by authorities in Italy and Malta.”

In the past 11 years, It said “we have witnessed how thousands more have been left to die and killed in the different maritime regions around Europe. Despite this horror, we will not give up and do what we can to fight the brutalisation of the EU border regime.”
