Refugee Rights Watch, an independent organization focused on refugee and women’s rights has shared the concerns expressed by Richard Bennet, regarding the deportation of 81 Afghans from Germany.
Richard Bennet, a UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan and human rights advocate with 30years experience had on his X handle @SR_Afghanistan posted: “Highly concerned by #Germany deporting 81 Afghans with Taliban & #Qatar cooperation. More likely to follow! Urge immediate halt of deportations. Even if criminals, int’l law applies incl. non-refoulement; flights to #Afghanistan where they’ll face real danger is not the solution.”
Sharing his concerns, Refugee Rights Watch said: “Refugee Rights Watch, shares the deep concern expressed by Richard Bennet, regarding the deportation of 81 Afghans from Germany, reportedly with cooperation from the Taliban and Qatar.
“Refugee Rights Watch, strongly urge an immediate halt to all deportations to Afghanistan. Regardless of status, international law prohibits refoulement to a place where individuals face real risk of persecution or harm.”
