Moroccan authorities recover eight bodies several others in hospital after shipwreck in the Atlantic
Moroccan authorities have reportedly recovered eight bodies after shipwreck in the Atlantic.
Several others are said to be in hospital for treatment, according to information provided by Alarm Phone, an organization that provides independent support for people crossing the Mediterranean Sea to the EU.
“#Shipwreck in the #Atlantic!” Alarm Phone said as it goes on to provide information about the shipwreck. “Yesterday in the night we were alerted to a boat with 52 people in distress off #Tarfaya. We alerted the authorities, but according to our information the boat was only found in the morning. 8 bodies have been recovered by Moroccan authorities and several other people are now in hospital.
“We grieve this new massacre and want to express our solidarity with the families of the victims. This is a direct consequence of the murderous border regime. Freedom of movement for all!”
