Cyprus coast guard forces 22 distressed people to Syria
Twenty two people distressed on their way to Cyprus have been forced to Syria.
The claim was made by the relations of the distressed migrants according to a post by Alarm Phone on its X handle.
“SOS from 22 people in distress on their way to #Cyprus! Relatives told us that they spoke to the group last time on Friday early morning. We have not managed to establish direct contact with the people. We informed @CyprusJRCC last night – we need a search & rescue mission now!,” Alarm Phone said.
While the #Cyprus coast guard kept telling “us that they were “investigating”, we learned from relatives that the coast guard located the group in distress and forced them back to #Syria.”
Alarm Phone noted that #Syria is no safe place. “We denounce this violence towards the people that were seeking safety! We need freedom of movement for all,” he said.
