Refugees In Libya, an organization that defends the rights of refugees and asylum seekers has condemned  attacks on black immigrants in Libya.

In a post on its X handle, Refugees In Libya said: “What is happening right now in Western Libya is unacceptable. @Dabaibahamid is immediately responsible. There is a planned massacre of Black immigrants and refugees being carried out.”

The organization had earlier raised the lamented that the mass and arbitrarily arrests of refugees across Tripoli and other parts of Libya is alarming.

“Many have been killed or wounded in the operations. Since a few days there has been a rise in hate speech and racial discrimination against Black communities in Libya, which has culminated in public calls for mass expulsion and violence. This incitement is particularly evident in the campaign promoting the so-called “Friday for the Expulsion of Africans from Libya,” scheduled for Friday, March 14, 2025.”

Such calls, Refugees In Libya said  constitute a blatant violation of human rights principles and a dangerous provocation of violence and racial discrimination, in clear contradiction with both domestic laws and international conventions that criminalize racial discrimination and hate speech.

Condemning the ugly development, David Yambio, the president and co-founder of Refugees in Libya,  said: “I have received both confidential and public information that the Tripoli government is planning to carry out a non -discriminatory mass arrests tomorrow-FRIDAY.

“The @DCIM_LIBYA  who carry out these attacks is being financed by European authorities . And the #RADA militias headed by #Almasri is also part of the raids. #Almasri was released and flown on a state flight by the Italian government 7 weeks ago and he’s back to his murder and torture business.”
