Police arrest two Libyan drivers for attempting to smuggle nine Bangladeshis
Police in Brega have arrested two Libyan drivers (‘N.A.A.’ born in 1992 & ‘A.A.S.’ born in 1991) for an attempted human smuggling of nine undocumented migrants of Bangladeshi nationality.
The arrest, according to Migrant Rescue Watch was carried out during control at the city gate.
It said: “The drivers were heading from Benghazi to Misrata. During search of the 2 vehicles police found a total of 8.705 LYD (ca.1.810 USD), 12 passports (9 Bangladeshi, 2 Egyptian & 1 Syrian) and also a notebook containing names, number of passengers & amounts.
“During interrogation one of the drivers admitted to working together with a Bangladeshi accomplice named “Robin” in Misrata who receives the #migrants and passports. All remain in custody pending referral to public prosecution.”
