SOS Mediterranee worries about Italy-Albania Protocol’s consequences on rescued people
SOS Mediterranee has expressed concerns that the Italy-Albania Protocol could lead to violation of human rights of rescued people.
The organisation noted that with the disembarkation in Albania of 16 rescued people, “the #Italy-#Albania Protocol has become operational as per yesterday. What does this mean? That people rescued in the in the Central #Med by Italian authorities can be brought to the new detention facilities in Albania.
“The Italy-Albania Protocol is a further piece of policies ruling migratory flows in Europe which contradict International Law. @SOSMedIntl is extremely worried of the consequences on the lives of rescued people & on the potential serious violations of human rights this can cause.”
