Nadir crew rescues 23 women, three children, others
Nadir crew has rescued 23 women, three children, and 23 other distressed migrants.
The people, according to Resqship departed from Tunisia.
“Yesterday afternoon, the #Nadir crew spotted an iron boat in distress with 49 people on board. The boat was so overcrowded that it only had few centimetres of freeboard above the waterline. Due to the imminent risk of capsizing, all people were taken aboard the Nadir, Resqship said.
Providing additional information on the people, Resqship said “The people, including 23 women and 3 small children, had departed from Tunisia the day before. Many were suffering from hypothermia and skin burns caused by the saltwater-fuel mixture in the boat, and were treated by the medical team.
“The #Nadir was assigned Lampedusa as a port of safety, where all individuals were able to disembark in the early morning. We are glad everybody survived but it is unacceptable that people still need to enter what can barely be called a boat in order to seek refuge in Europe.”
