28 persons expelled to remote mountainous area in Gafsa governorate located
A team of dedicated rescuers have located 28persons who had been expelled to a remote mountainous area in Gafsa governorate near the Tunisian-Algerian border.
This was disclosed by a netizen and researcher who goes by the name Jihed on X formerly twitter.
In a post titled: ‘Finding Hope Amid Despair: A Rescue operation Against All Odds’, Jihed wrote: “After 4days of relentless searching, a dedicated team has successfully located 28persons who had been expelled to a remote mountainous area in Gafsa governorate,near the Tunisian-Algerian border.
“Among those found were 7 women,including 3 who were pregnant (in their ninth, fourth, and third months).The individuals were in dire conditions,having been forced to drink stagnant water and even their own urine to survive.This is what people face after interceptions at sea.
This, he added “is what European border regime imposes on us to be complicit in. Slow death by expulsion to the desert. The group was evacuated this evening and has been transferred to a safe location after informing local authorities.
“This rescue operation was made possible thanks to a network of committed citizens activists with the support of various organizations and associations.Stop #border_violence #Human_rights.”
