Seebrüecke International celebrates Pyros 3 freedom
Seebrüecke International has taken to its X handle to celebrate the release of Paros3.
After a catastrophic shipwreck on Christmas Eve 2021 off the Greek island of Paros, three of the survivors were made felons, Seebrüecke International said.
Because Abdallah J., Kheiraldin A. & Mohamad B. had taken the wheel, Kheiraldin was sentenced to 187 years in prison, Mohamad & Abdallah to 126 years each.
Two years and one appeal later, the Paros3 have finally been released from prison!
Seebrüecke International said: “On 24 December 2021 at 8 a.m., a boat that was far too small set sail from the Turkish coast.
“When water entered the boat, panic broke out, which ultimately led to the boat capsizing near the Greek island of Paros at around 6 pm on Christmas Eve. 18 people lost their lives.
“They were also accused of endangering the lives of others and being responsible for the deaths of 18 people.”
Abdallah, Mohamad and Kheiraldin have been made scapegoats to divert attention from the EU’s responsibility.
It further said: The shipwreck on 24 December 2021 and the deaths of 18 people are not the fault of Abdallah, Mohamad and Kheiraldin, but the result of the EU’s increasing policy of sealing off borders. They were finally released a few weeks ago.
“We are glad that justice has finally prevailed, even if the path was long and arduous. We wish them all the best for the future! Solidarity wins!”
