Police free 100 migrants after fierce gun battle with human smugglers
Police in Libya have set free 100 migrants after a fierce gun battle with human smugglers.
According to Migrant Rescue Watch, the Joint Police Forces conducted raid on a human smugglers’ farm in Al-Khuwair area (20 km south of Tobruk).
“During raid police encountered heavy resistance from smugglers and after a prolonged exchange of fire succeeded finally in storming the farm.
“The operation resulted in freeing 100 undocumented #migrants of different nationalities. Some #migrants and smugglers managed to escape the site. The police forces are still searching and pursuing the perpetrators.”
Migrant Rescue Watch also informed that Police patrols seized at Bab al-Zaytoun Gate a vehicle and arrested the Libyan driver (‘M.A.M.’ born in 1994) for an attempted human smuggling of 10 undocumented #migrants including 3 women of different nationalities.
