MSF Sea says it has recovered  11 bodies from the sea.

The recovery exercise according to the organization took place yesterday June 7, 2024.

It said: “The 11 bodies recovered from the #sea yesterday were transferred to a @guardiacostiera vessel near #Lampedusa, after instructions from the #Italian authorities.”

Before the recovery, MSF Sea had posted that: “#GeoBarents resumed navigation towards the distant port of #Genova to disembark the 165 survivors onboard.

After conducting two rescues early this morning, @MSF teams witnessed yet again the result of the devastating and bloody #European policies on #migration and non-assistance for people taking the #Mediterranean.

“And this time, 11 people lost their lives‼ As we cannot determine the reason behind this tragedy, we know that people will continue to take dangerous routes in a desperate attempt to reach safety, and #Europe must find safe and legal pathways for them. This catastrophe must end!”
