MSF International team member killed in Sudan
MSF International has announced the killing of it’s team member in Sudan.
The organisation called on the warring parties to step up efforts to protect Innocent civilians.
The organisation said: “In the afternoon of May 25, a member of our team in El Fasher, Sudan, was killed when shelling hit his house, which was located close to the city’s main market. We offer our deepest condolences to his family.
“He was one of our watchmen at our pharmacy, and was off duty when the shelling took place. He was taken straight to South Hospital for treatment, but sadly passed away from his injuries.
“Many of our staff lost family members or their homes during the shelling as well.
At South Hospital in El Fasher, #Sudan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, we have now treated 979 casualties since the fighting began over two weeks ago, and the death toll has reached 134 – a sign of the violent intensity of the fighting.
“We urge the warring parties to do more to protect civilians, who – like our valued colleague – are among those losing their lives.”
