Pylos 9: Hellenic Coastguard, Frontex should have been the ones sitting on court bench- LouiseMichel
Hellenic Coastguard, and Frontex should have been the ones sitting on court bench and held responsible for one of the deadliest shipwrecks in the last decade, LouiseMichel an International NGO that aims to combine sea rescue with the principles of feminism, anti-racism and anti-fascism, has said.
Louise Michel stated this after the Kalamata Court in Greece dropped charges against the Pylos 9 randomly arrested after the Pylos Shipwreck that claimed over t 600 lives on June 14, 2023.
Elated that the charges were dropped, Louise Michel said: “Finally, after nearly a year in prison, the charges against the #Pylos9 have been dropped. The argument is that the shipwreck happened outside of #Greek jurisdiction.
“From the beginning, the Hellenic Coastguard and @Frontex should have been the ones sitting on the court bench and held responsible for one of the deadliest shipwrecks in the last decade! Instead, 9 innocent people, who had just survived a shipwreck, were wrongfully arrested.”
Louise Michel went on to demand justice for all survivors, “including the at least 650 people, who died due to the inactions of Frontex and the Hellenic Coast Guard!”
