Visa applications across key UK routes have dropped by 25%, the UK Home Office has said.

It said: “New data shows that visa applications across key routes have fallen by 25%.

“We are delivering the biggest-ever cut in legal migration.”

The UK Home Office also announced that a total 10,000 people have been removed from the country in 2024.

“We are committed to removing those with no right to be in the UK.

“The number of removals is currently 25% higher than at the same point in 2023.”

Speaking on global efforts to reduce the menace of irregular migration, UK Home James Cleverly, said:
“Illegal migration is a global challenge. But we are not tackling it alone.Our close partnership with France is delivering results.

“Around 7,000 illegal and deadly Channel crossing attempts have been stopped since the start of this year.”
