Today a UN vehicle was struck in Gaza, killing one of our colleagues and injuring another, the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has disclosed.

Altogether, the UN scribe said “More than 190 UN staff have been killed in Gaza.Humanitarian workers must be protected.

“I condemn all attacks on UN personnel and reiterate my urgent appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire & the release of all hostages.”

Also condemning the crisis in Sudan, Guterres said: “I’m very concerned about the ongoing war in Sudan.Ultimately, we know there is no military solution to this conflict.

“We need an urgent ceasefire and a coordinated international effort to deliver a political process that can get the country back on track.”

Equally expressing concern about weather conditions in Africa, he said: The African continent is being blasted by extreme weather, turbocharged by a climate crisis it has done next to nothing to create.

“Yet, Africa – home to 30% of minerals critical to renewables & 60% of the world’s best solar resources – could be a renewable energy giant.”
