The United Kingdom says it has reduced applications for dependants by 26,200.

The authorities had last year banned people coming to the country for academic programs below PhD from bringing along their dependants.

The Home Office announced the reduction in the number of applications for dependants on its X handle.

It said: “At the end of last year, we unveiled plans for the biggest-ever cut in migration.

“We have banned the vast majority of postgraduate students from bringing dependants to the UK.

“New data shows applications for dependants were down by 26,200.Our plan is working.”

Aside from the feat of having a drop in the number of dependants entering the country, the Home Office also relished the success of the government in tackling cybercrime.

“The UK and our allies stand united in the fight against cyber crime.

“LockBit have extorted over $1 billion from victims – including more than 200 UK businesses.

Today’s sanctions make it clear, law enforcement’s reach is global and criminals will face justice,”the UK Home Office said.
