Tunisia persists as Europe’s border externalization regimes’ watchdog

In spite of mounting opposition against Europe’s border regimes based in externalization, Tunisian authorities are said to have persist as their watchdog.

A researcher who goes by the name Jihed on X platform made the assertion in a post.

He said: “Tunisia’s recent updates are alarming:
Guard National’s maritime units,conducted 22 operations last night, near #Sfax intercepting over 600 individuals, mainly from Sub-Saharan African nations. Official numbers for the intercepted individuals remain undisclosed.

“While several testimonies suggest confiscated engines, leaving intercepted people stranded for hours.Furthermore, on land, 20 Tunisians were arrested, and several workshops were raided.

“Despite widespread opposition to Europe’s border regimes based in externalization, #Tunisian authorities persist as their watchdog.
It’s time to prioritize #human_rights over european right wing border control agenda.
Stop #daily_border_violence.”
