Forty four people, including children, and women have been evacuated by Resqship crew on international waters.

A statement by the NGO said it was alerted by PVolontaires, another NGO with the objective to deploy aerial resources dedicated to turn search to the search for people in distress.

“Alerted by @PVolontaires, #Nadir was able to locate a highly unseaworthy metal boat with 44 people, including 4 babies and 12 women. Lots of water was entering the boat, so our crew evacuated most of them on our life rafts. Later, everyone got rescued by IT Coastguard,” Resqship said.

Yesterday afternoon, Resqship had said that #Nadir found a metal boat with 40 people including 4 babies, 9 women, 1 pregnant on board.

“The engine was broken & water was leaking in. The crew stabilized the boat until the Italian coast guard arrived. Around 7pm people were brought to #Lampedusa.

“Due to the weather, departures might increase. The political situation and police violence in Tunisia is also forcing many people to take to dangerous routes! We condemn the violence and deportations of the camps in front of the UNHCR in Tunis! @RefugeesinLibya.”
