Nigerians at home and abroad are becoming distressed applying for and getting their international passport.

The Nigerian Immigration Service had earlier assured that it would remove every bottleneck around issuance of passport to the citizens.

While some positive results are said to have been seen, the frustrations of some of the citizens showed that so much more still needs to be done.

A netizen who goes by the name Hey Its Mike on X to ventilate his frustration getting his biometric done.

He said: @nigimmigration I was at the ikoyi passport office for my capturing and the lady in charge refused to approve my application “I can’t sign two English name” I have proven beyond reasonable doubt that I am indeed a citizen of our beloved country. And still she refused to approve.

Others’ complaints are as captured below:

Yemi Azeez
wish I could share your enthusiasm sir. My experience has been abysmally distressing.
I applied for correction of data. Application got approved (got a confirmation mail) on 8th of April. I have been at the NIM office at Abeokuta 7 times since then, only to fail to do biometrics. Apparently my application is being returned with “payment not found”.

I have called and emailed to no avail.
Mind you, I applied 24-03, got approved 08-04. Payment was confirmed since 24-03, by mail and payment receipt
@nigimmigration
has caused me so much distress.

Chinyere Bibian: Provide my passport Nigeria immigration or you allow me to recapture in London,I’m stranded in a foreign country, it’s up to 7months I got captured in Manchester and till today I haven’t seen my passport, I was denied recapturing

Meanwhile the Service has assured that it would not rest on its oars in making sure the system is made to to work seamlessly.

“The biggest room in the world they say, is the Room for Improvement.

“While we acknowledge the pocket challenges experienced here and there in the passport application process; we make bold to promise Nigerians that we’ll continue to fine-tune and refine our processes to meeting all challenges as they come.#NISDeyForYou”
