Aurora released, returns to Mediterranean
Sea-Watch’s civilian rescue ship #AURORA is back in action in the Mediterranean, a statement by Seebrüecke International said in celebration of the ship’s release by the Italian authorities.
It said: “As Italy continues to detain ships – the Sea-Eye 4, for example, is currently still stuck – we are grateful for every rescue ship that can be deployed.
“Just last week there were several shipwrecks in the central Mediterranean, and a total of at least 490 people have already died or are missing in the central Mediterranean this year.
“We demand an end to the blocking of civilian rescue ships and the abolition of the Piantedosi Decree! For safe passage and freedom of movement for all people!”
