Humanity1 regains freedom 16 days after
Humanity1, the rescue ship of SOS Humanity International has regained its freedom.
This is coming 16 days after the Italian authorities detained it.
Announcing the freedom in a statement, SOS Humanity says: The illegitimate detention of #Humanity1 has been lifted! The civil court in Crotone cited “the apparent injustice of the measure issued” as the reason for the preliminary, positive decision in our fast-track appeal.
“Our rescue ship is now free after the unjust detention on 2 March! The court made an independent judgement based on the facts – in contrast to the Italian authorities, who implemented the political agenda of the Meloni government by obstructing civil search and rescue at sea.
“After the Ocean Viking, Humanity 1 is the second NGO rescue ship to be released after being detained under the Piantedosi Act. The Sea-Watch 5 and Sea-Eye 4 are currently still wrongfully detained. #FreeTheFleet.”
