MSF Sea disembarks 261 people in Italy
MSF Sea says it disembarked 261 people in Italy on March 7.
“Second disembarkation completed,” it said as it announces the feat the organization recorded.
“Despite the additional burdens of assigning two distant ports of safety (Civitavecchia and Genova), MSF team disembarked a total of 261 people in #Italy, rescued on 7th of March,”MSF Sea said.
Wishing the people well, it said: “We wish them all the best and hope they find on land the humanity and respect they deserve.
“#GeoBarents will soon set sail back to the Central Mediterranean, where it is urgently needed.”
MSF added that it will continue to challenge the authorities’ decisions of assigning distant and multiple disembarkation ports that only lead to lost time and resources, preventing us from spending time rescuing people at sea.
