CID dismantles Pakistani gang responsible for human smuggling
CID in Benghazi following a report of kidnapping and after a complex investigation dismantled a Pakistani gang responsible for kidnapping, extortion, illegal money transfer and human smuggling, Migrant Rescue Watch said.
“During police operation, it said 6 members of the gang (all Pakistani nationality) were arrested & victims of kidnapping released. “The accused demanded ransom of 190,0000 PKR (ca. 6,800 USD) for release of each person which they intended to use for illegal immigration to Italy.
“During interrogation they also admitted to receiving payments of up to 4,500 USD per person for organizing from Libya illegal sea crossings for Pakistani #migrants. All referred to public prosecution for legal action. #migrantcrisis #DontTakeToTheSea #seenotrettung #Frontex.”
