Aegean Boat Report
has accused the Greek authorities of getting away with murder and they, the European Commission vice president Margaritis Schinas, and EU commissioner for home affairs Ylva Johansson, complimenting them on their achievements.

Aegean Boat Report made the accusation following Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s remark at a migrant conference in Athens.

Aegean Boat Report said: “Today, at a migrant conference in Athens, the Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis proudly stated “we managed migration flows in 2023 more effectively than many of our partners”, nobody asked how this was achieved, because they already know.

He totally forgot to mention that this was achieved by systematically violating international laws and human rights, illegal and brutally pushing back 26.000 men, women and children in the Aegean Sea, killing hundreds of people in the process.

“In one single shipwreck they managed to kill over 650 people, while trying to push the vessel towards Italian waters, still no investigation launched by the European Commission, who seems to believe that an “independent” secret investigation by the perpetrators, will lead to justice.

“The Greek authorities are getting away with murder, and they European Commission vice president Margaritis Schinas, and EU commissioner for home affairs Ylva Johansson, are complimenting them on their achievements.

In talks with the Greek minister of migration, Dimitris Kairidid, Ylva Johansson said that she has seen a “remarkable development”, an “impressive journey that Greece has been doing with managing migration properly”. When lawmakers are ignoring the laws, why should anyone else bother, this is hypocrisy at the highest level!

She said “ we need migration but we need it in an orderly way”, the commissioner is fully aware of what is going on in the Aegean Sea, and there is nothing “orderly” in illegally and brutally pushing back people at sea, leaving them drifting in rubber boats and life rafts. She is turning a blind eye to Greek pushbacks, the cover up of the Pylos shipwreck where over 650 people were killed, and maltreatment of refugees on a daily basis.

European Commission vice president Margaritis Schinas told that EU would allocate additional funding for “border protection”. More European taxpayers money will go to the killing and torture of vulnerable people at our borders, we really live in dark times, when human lives means so little. The “European way of life” and “European values” have lost its meaning.

The Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis seems to have lost touch with reality, still claiming Greece has a “fair migration policy”, what’s fair by killing men, women and children seeking protection?, what’s fair with leaving people helplessly adrift at sea?, everyone knows he’s lying through he’s teeth, but still playing along as if nothing is going on.

Greece has been allowed to kidnap, torture and kill men, women and children at our borders for years, not only are we allowing it to happen, we are financing these atrocities with European taxpayers money, even cheering them along, telling them how proud we are of their achievements. As long as we don’t stand up against this madness it will continue, it will get worse.

So what are they really talking about when they are saying Greece has a “remarkable development in 2023”, and “impressive journey”?

I have no idea what figures these people are looking at but let’s look at some facts for 2023 in relation to migration.

Almost 40.000 people arrived in Greece in 2023, that’s an increase of 240% compared to 2022 and 800% compared to 2021. So in the eyes of the Greek right wing authorities nothing to be proud of there.

Over 900 illegal registered pushbacks in the Aegean Sea, where the rights of almost 26.000 people was brutally violated, perhaps this is what commissioner Ylva Johansson is so impressed by..

In the first week of this year 20 illegal pushback cases have been registered, the rights of 700 men, women and children violated in the name of border protection and European values.

In seven days 16 Greek manufacturer life rafts have been found helplessly drifting in the Aegean Sea, carrying almost 300 people, over 100 small children, most of them Afghan families

We start 2024 as we ended 2023, violating the rights of vulnerable people

Hypocrisy of our times
