Rwanda receives 153 asylum seekers evacuated from Libya
A total of 153 asylum seekers evacuated from Libya have been received by Rwanda.
The Rwandan Ministry in charge of Emergency Management disclosed this in a statement.
The statement reads: “Tonight, Rwanda welcomed 153 asylum seekers evacuated from Libya. They are from five nationalities: 82 Sudanese, 56 Eritrean, 5 Somali, 9 Ethiopian, and 1 South Sudanese. They will be accommodated at the Gashora Transit Center, where other evacuees who arrived before are hosted.
“A total of 2059 evacuees have been received in 16 batches. 68% of them were resettled to third countries: Canada 381, Sweden 255, Norway 193, USA 168, France 141, Finland 187, Netherlands 82&Belgium 26. Rwanda remains committed to offering refuge and assistance to people in need.”
