Libyan Coast Guard rescues 338 migrants
The Libyan Coast Guard has rescued 338 migrants in separate operations.
A total of 313 migrants were rescued in five operations while 25 others were rescued in another operations.
This was announced in separate messages by Migrant Rescue Watch.
“Libyan Coast Guard rescued in 5 separate operations a total of 313. All rescued #migrants disembarked in Tripoli and Al-Khums and upon provision of humanitarian assistance were transferred to DCIM custody,” Migrant Rescue Watch said.
The organization further said that the Libyan Coast Guard in coordinated operation with a merchant vessel rescued 25 #migrants of sub-Saharan nationalities who clung for life on a deflated and sinking rubber boat 22 nm north of Zuwara.
“Despite all efforts of available assets operating at night and in stormy weather conditions ca. 50 #migrants have gone missing and are presumed dead. Yet another testimony of smugglers’ heinous crime.”
