MSF Sea, SOS Mediterranee rescue 142 people

A total of 142 distressed migrants have been rescued by MSF and SOS Mediterranee.

Eighty one out the distressed people were rescued by MSF while the remaining sixty one were rescued by SOS Mediterranee.

Announcing the rescue, MSF said: “This morning #MSF team rescued 81 persons from a rubber boat in distress following

@alarm_phone   alert and with the support of #Colibri2, the airplane of  @PVolontaires . The survivors, including women and more than 25 children, are now cared for on board the #GeoBarents.

Also announcing its rescue operations,  SOS Mediterranee, a  European organisation for the rescue of lives at sea said:   “This afternoon, #OceanViking rescued 61 people from a wooden boat in distress in the international waters off Libya following a mayday relay from a fishing vessel & with the support from #Colibri2 @PVolontaires. Among the survivors there are 3 women and 2 children

“The Italian authorities assigned the distant port of #Ortona to disembark the 128 women, men & children onboard #OceanViking. They will have to endure 3 extra days of unnecessary navigation to finally reach a Place of Safety.”
