Italian authorities have assigned Genova as a safety place to MSF Sea.

This is as MSF Sea announced that it has rescued 63 people including 4 women and dozens of minors in distress on a deflated rubber boat.

“In the middle of the night, MSF team rescued 63 people in distress on a deflated rubber boat, including 4 women & a dozen of minors. They said they departed from #Libya about 24 hours earlier,” the organization said.

It went on to say that all the survivors are now safe on board #GeoBarents and taken care for by MSF staff.

Prior to the rescue, MSF Sea said: “The Italian authorities have assigned us #Genova as place of safety. Genova is at least 3 days of navigation away from #GeoBarents’ current location, up north to Italy.”
