It’s the British people who should decide who comes to the UK – not criminal gangs, British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has said.

He disclosed this earlier today, October 5, 2023 via a post on his X handle ( formerly known as Twitter)

“Our work so far has meant crossings are down by 20% but it requires international collaboration, which is why I’m in Granada meeting with European leaders,” he noted.

Enumerating his agreement with other nations, the British PM said: “Here’s what’s been agreed today:
Our agreement with Belgium will:

📈️ Increase intelligence sharing to stop the boats
✅ Deploy advanced technology to detect and disrupt people smuggling.

With Serbia, our efforts mean we will:

️⛓️️Increase prosecutions to disrupt criminal networks
🤝️Work closer together on controlling our borders.

We’re going even further in our partnership with Bulgaria:

⬆️ Expanding shared information and action to disrupt criminal networks.
