IOM across the globe congratulate Amy Pope

International Organization for Migration, IOM, groups in different countries of the world continued to congratulate their new Director General, Amy Pope.

Amy Pope, an American is taking over from Antonio Vitorino a Portuguese.

She is the first female in history to lead the organisation. For many of the organisation, Amy Pope’s coming is seen as a beginning of good and great things to come.

IOM at African Union in its congratulatory message said: The IOM family extends a warm welcome to our new Director-General, @AmyEPope, as she begins her duties today.

We appreciate António Vitorino, the outgoing @IOMchief, for guiding @UNmigration over the previous five years.
