Nineteen persons in critical conditions, boats with 220 people distressed
About 19 persons in distressed boats are in critical conditions with symptoms of severe dehydration.
Minors and pregnant women are, according to Resqship, are among the distressed people.
Resqship is a German Non Governmental Organization. The organisation operates monitoring missions in the Central Mediterranean.
A statement by Resqship on the distressed boats said: “#Nadir is currently stationary with five boats & approximately 220 people in distress. 19 persons in critical conditions with symptoms of severe dehydration and chemical burns were taken aboard earlier and are attended to medically. Most of them are children & their parents.
“Among the people in distress are minors and pregnant women. The #Nadir crew distributed life vests & water to four boat when a fifth approached. Two of them are without engines. The Nadir is in urgent need of assistance, the people need to be brought to a place of safety!”
