Nigerians have berated the Nigeria Immigration Service over delay in obtaining their passports at various NIS centres across the country.

The furious applicants expressed their anger in response to NIS tweet that it was redeploying 15 passport control officers.

Some of the aggrieved people also accused officials of the NIS of openly  engaging in corrupt practices.

Below are their reactions to the NIS tweet:

Captain Sam: @nigimmigration your recently opened office in Oyo town, Oyo State is demanding for six thousand naira from self applicants as “administrative charges to be moving file from one office to another” and with a letter of introduction from a  respected person. Kindly look into this.

Mustapha Muhammed: It’s annoying how @nigimmigration Maiduguri branch have become so corrupt, please take measures that will sanitize your office in the Maiduguri Passport office.

Dammy: Up Till now I have been unable to collect my passport. And it was written on the slip that It will be ready June. They won’t even let me enter at alausa because I don’t know anybody.

ALAUSA PO IS FULL OF CORRUPT OFFICIALSJethro Olowole: I applied at your Ikoyi office since December, capture in February 8. Up till now I was told no booklet. What’s going on.

Jimoh Adisa: Dear Team,

It’s always good to hear and see the improvement in the commission, But your office in Canada Ottawa is really fucking so many applications up with their lackadaisical and I don’t care attitudes. I have an application with the high commission since 2nd of May

Dennis Inegbedion: The problems that have bedeviled the passport systems in Nigeria are much more than the redeployment of persons. The structure needs to be stripped from top to bottom. NIS officials should stop encouraging proxies stationed at NIS for handling payments and processing.

RN Ilesanmi PO: My sister have done her capturing at Old Party Sec.Oke-Mosan Abeokuta since March ending and till now, it’s not yet available. And no information as regards the delay.
